Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc. is a leading gaming company
that owns and operates three casino resorts in Atlantic City.
The Company's properties are Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and
Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, located on the Boardwalk in Atlantic
City, New Jersey, and Trump Marina Hotel Casino, located in Atlantic
City's Marina District.
In May, Trump Resorts announced it had
sold Trump Marina to Coastal Marina LLC for $316 million. The
casino will be renamed Margaritaville.
Trump Resorts is the sole vehicle through
which Donald J. Trump, the Company's Chairman and largest stockholder,
conducts gaming activities and is separate and distinct from
Mr. Trump's real estate and other holdings. Trump is known for
his flamboyant style and many real estate developments in New
York City and nationwide.
Trump Entertainment has never turned a
profit and has seen revenues drop in Atlantic City over the past
year with competition from new slot parlors in Philadelphia.
The company is trying to remodel every hotel room it operates
and is building a new $255 million, 786-room hotel tower at the
Taj Mahal which is set to opening in by Labor Day of 2008.
In 2008, the company reported revenues
of $988.2 million and net loss of $188.6 million.
History
The Trump Plaza Hotel was opened on May
26, 1984 on a central location at Mississippi Avenue on Atlantic
City's Boardwalk. Trump Marina Hotel opened in the marina district
of Atlantic City on June 19, 1985.
Trump Taj Mahal opened April 2, 1990 and
was then Atlantic City's most luxurious casino. It has 1,250
rooms including 237 suites.
The Trump Entertaiment Resorts company
was formed in 2005 as a result of the bankruptcy restructuring
of its predecessor Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts.
