In March 2011, SnagAJob received $27 million in venture funding led by August Capital. Other private equity investors in SnagAJob for this and previous rounds of funding include Adams Street Partners, Baird Venture Partners and C&B Capital. In previous rounds of funding, these firms committed a total of $14 million.

The company says it plans to expand to 300 employees by the end of the year.

Shawn Boyer, an attorney, started the site after a friend asked him to go online and help look for an internship in 1999. Boyer discovered few sites geared toward internships or part-time and hourly jobs. So, after several month of research, he left the D.C. law firm where he worked as a transactional attorney to start the site.

In 2008, Moyer was named the nation's Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. That same year, Snagajob was named a Best Small & Medium Company to Work for in America by the Great Place to Work Institute.
