Rent the Runway is a leading online destination for dress and accessory rentals.

Rent the Runway currently boasts over 3 million members and 170 designer brands, and recently introduced the first-ever online social shopping platform – Our Runway – which allows women to shop based on user-generated photos of real women with their similar body type, rather than the typical model image.

The company has over 35,000 designer dresses available for rent at 90% off the retail price. You can select the date you want your order to arrive (up to 6 months in advance) and keep it for 4 or 8 days. Same day delivery is available in NYC and next day delivery throughout the U.S.

Delivery is made through UPS, FedEx or courier service to homes or hotels. A postage-paid envelope via US Postal Service is provided to return your item. No cleaning of your item is required. A $5 insurance charge can cover dresses with minor damage. If the dress is ruined or beyond repair, the customer's credit card is charged for the full price of the item.

Designers available include Badgley Mischka, Herve Leger, Diane Von Furstenberg, Nicole Miller and Vera Wang.

The company was founded by two Harvard Business School classmates, Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss, in 2009.

In November, the company raised $20 million from Advance Communications, parent of Conde Nast, Bain Capital Ventures, Highland Capital Partners and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Prior to the $20 million investment, Rent the Runway had raised more than $31 million in venture capital.
