Ben and Bill Golub opened the first Central
Market in Schenectady, NY in 1933 offering one-stop shopping.
The brothers expanded with more stores in upstate New York and
one in Massachusetts. The name was changed from Central Markets
to Price Chopper in 1973. The company has continued to grow with
acquisitions and openings of new stores.
Employees own 55% of shares in the company.

distribution center to supply all stores with frozen foods in
