Benefits
Medical Plans
Three medical plan options are available. The main difference
between the plans is the amount you will pay for deductibles,
co-payments for office and emergency care visits, and co-insurance
(your share of the cost for healthcare services).
Dental Plans
Memorial University Medical Center offers two dental plans. Both
allow you to use any dentist you prefer and there are no deductibles
for preventive or orthodontic procedures on either plan.
Vision Benefits
Eye care benefits are included with all of the available medical
plans.
Reimbursement Accounts
Even the most comprehensive benefits program cannot cover every
expense. However, you can set aside pre-tax dollars for certain
benefit-related expenses, including co-payments, vision care,
dental care, medical equipment, and daycare costs. Contributions
are deducted from each paycheck before taxes are taken out, allowing
you to save for healthcare costs while reducing your taxable
income.
Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance
Full-time and part-time Team Members automatically receive basic
life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no cost.
Dependent life insurance is available to help you and your family
handle unexpected expenses in the event of the untimely loss
of a spouse or child. Coverage must be elected and Team Members
pay for coverage.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
Should you become unable to work for an extended period of time
because of sickness or injury, long-term disability (LTD) insurance
replaces part of your pay, so you and your family have a steady
source of income until you can return to work. Full-time Team
Members are automatically enrolled in LTD after one year of service
and can start receiving payments after 120 days of disability.
Payments are equal to 60 percent of their base salary to a maximum
monthly benefit of $6,000. Team Members automatically receive
this benefit at no cost to them.
Retirement Plans
Memorial University Medical Center's 401(k) plan enables you
to save for retirement and enjoy a tax break at the same time.
Your contribution may be made on a pre-tax basis through payroll
deduction. Memorial University Medical Center matches 50 percent
of your savings to a maximum of 6 percent of your base pay. Your
savings, plus the employer contributions to your account, will
grow tax-deferred until your funds are withdrawn. In addition,
Memorial University Medical Center may authorize an annual contribution
of 3 percent of your base pay, provided you meet eligibility
requirements.
Military Pay
The difference in your regular base wages and military pay is
reimbursed to you up to a maximum of 80 hours per year for military
leave and/or training. In addition, a military leave of absence
with pay shall be granted for the period of military duty/deployment
during a time of engagement.
Fitness Center Membership
By joining FitnessOne, our on-site gym, Team Members can take
advantage of exercise equipment and classes, lifestyle improvement
classes, health screenings, and more. Membership is free for
eligible Team Members. Discounted rates are available for family
members.
Voluntary Benefit Choices
Memorial University Medical Center offers several voluntary benefit
plans designed to give you and your family additional security.
These benefits include short-term disability, whole life insurance,
critical illness insurance, long-term care insurance, auto and
homeowners insurance, and group legal insurance. All voluntary
plan premiums are paid fully by the Team Member on an after-tax
basis.
Tuition Assistance
Actual uncovered costs for tuition, books, supplies, and lab
fees are reimbursed at 100 percent, to a maximum of $4,200 per
calendar year, for approved courses of study. Courses approved
for reimbursement must be relevant to your current position or
the specific needs of the organization. The annual limit for
approved graduate degree course work is $5,250 per Team Member.
Adoption Assistance
Memorial University Medical Center will reimburse up to $5,000
of qualified expenses of an eligible adoption for full-time employees.
Employee Health
Employee Health is an on-site clinic that offers free services
for Team Members. Services include a pre-employment health screen,
first aid, vaccinations, and annual health screens.
Paid Time Off/Plus Security (Paid Sick Leave)
Time-off hours are accrued each pay period and may be used for
vacation, holidays, personal illness of less than four days,
family illness, or other personal reasons. Plus Security hours
are accrued each pay period and are available for a Team Member's
illness requiring a physician's care for four or more days, or
bereavement in the immediate family (up to three days with management
approval), or one day of outpatient surgery.
