Liz Claiborne, Inc. designs and markets a global portfolio of retail-based clothing brands including Juicy Couture, kate spade, Lucky Brand and Mexx.
The Company also has a group of department store-based brands with strong consumer franchises including the Monet family of brands, Kensie, Kensiegirl, Mac & Jac, and the licensed DKNY Jeans and DKNY Active brands. In October, the company agreed to sell Liz Claiborne and Monet brands to J. C. Penney Company for $280 million. It will also sell the Dana Buchman brand to Kohl's and the Kensie brand to Bluestar Alliance for a total of $40 million. The company said it plans to change its name in the future now that Liz Claiborne has been sold and will focus on Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand and kate spade.

by original partners Liz Claiborne, Art Ortenberg, Leonard Boxer
and Jerome Chazen.
The company closed all 87 of its Liz Claiborne outlet stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico in 2011. The move to close stores was made after the company signed deals to market its clothing in JCPenney stores and on the QVC cable channel.
In 2010, Liz Claiborne reported total sales of $2.5 billion and net loss of $252.3 million.
