Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is the world's leading operator of luxury hotels and currently manages 93 hotel properties in top cities and resort destinations in 38 countries. Several properties include a residential component. The hotels are known for five-star accommodations and excellent service.
The company focuses primarily on managing
properties rather than ownership. The company directly employs
520 employees, the majority of whom are located in Toronto. There
are also corporate offices in Geneva and Singapore and 16 sales
offices around the world. Of these corporate employees, almost
half are devoted to sales and marketing activities (including
the worldwide reservations service), the cost of which is reimbursed
by the hotels and resorts that Four Seasons manages.
In October 2014, the Four Seasons Moscow officially opened and formerly kwown as the Hotel Moskva.
In 2014, the company introduced the first-ever Four Seasons Jet, providing a complete Four Seasons experience in the sky. Featuring signature design standards, staff and service, this private jet offers round-the-world journeys to Four Seasons hotels and resorts – creating a seamless Four Seasons travel experience.
Four Seasons has been named one of the Best Companies to Work for in America by Fortune magazine every year since 1998.
The company was founded in 1960 by Isadore Sharp, who remains Chairman of the company, and headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
In 2007, a deal was completed that returned Four Seasons to private ownership in a partnership between Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, one of the major shareholders of Four Seasons. Isadore Sharp and his family retained a significant share and operating involvement in the company he founded. Four Season's shareholders are Kingdom Holding Company, Cascade Investment and Triples Holdings.
Allen Smith was named the CEO of the company in 2013.
