Express is a specialty apparel and accessories retailer of women's and men's merchandise, targeting the 20 to 30 year old customer.

The company currently operates 630 retail stores, located primarily in high-traffic shopping malls, lifestyle centers, and street locations across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The company opened its first Express Factory Outlet store in April 2014 at Tanger Outlets National Harbor in Washington, DC.

In 2013, the company reported revenues increased 3% to $2.2 billion. E-commerce sales increased 25% to $340.6 million in 2013. Net income was $116.5 million.

Express plans to open 26 new stores in 2014 and close 15 stores.

David Kornberg will be the company's new CEO in January 2015 following the retirement of Michael Weiss.

History

Express started in 1980 as an eight-store experimental division called Limited Express for what is now Limited Brands. The brand went from zero to a billion dollars in sales in 10 years. In 2001, the Structure division of Limited Brands was folded into Express.

In July of 2007, Express was sold to Golden Gate Capital, a private equity firm based in San Francisco.

The company went public on the NY Stock Exchange in May 2010.
