retirement communities.
Erickson has built an innovative network of 16 communities in 9 states that are home to more than 22,000 people and combine a maintenance-free active lifestyle with a host of amenities, social activities, and wellness and medical centers, proven to improve both physical and mental health.
There are numerous services available to
people who live in Erickson communities, including transportation,
grounds maintenance, and housekeeping. On-site amenities include
restaurants, stores, Fitness Center with full-time trainers,
and a Medical Center staffed by board-certified primary care
physicians who specialize in geriatrics and practice only at
Erickson campuses.
Erickson campuses are uniquely self-sufficient,
providing their own security and emergency response service.
They also provide their own road repair, snow removal, and other
services typically funded by the local government.

History
In 1983 John Erickson rejected the traditional
concept of retirement living and struck out on his own to create
an exciting lifestyle for people age 62 or better. To that end,
he turned an abandoned college campus in Maryland into a vibrant,
bustling community named Charlestown. It quickly became the most
popular campus-style community option in America.
