Cooper Tire is a global tire manufacturer with product lines including high and ultra-high performance market, SUV and light truck applications, motorcycles, racing and radial medium tires. Products also include tread rubber and equipment.

With headquarters in Findlay, OH, Cooper Tire has 67 manufacturing, sales, distribution, technical and design facilities around the world.

Tires are designed at technical centers in Findlay, OH and Melksham, England, and tested on a test track in San Antonio, TX. The company currently markets tires internationally under five brands -- Cooper, Mastercraft, Avon, Starfire, and Dean.

In 2007, Cooper had sales of $2.9 billion and net income of $120 million.

Due to a slowdown in demand, the company plans to close a plant in Albany, GA that will result in the loss of 1,400 jobs

The company was formed in 1920 by Ira Cooper for the production and distribution of new tires.
