Colonie Center is the second largest shopping
mall in the Albany area behind Crossgates
Mall. The mall was recently purchased by Feldman Mall Properties
and is undergoing an ambitious renovation that will cost more
than $80 million.
Anchor stores include Macy's, Boscov's,
Sears, LL Bean and Christmas Tree Shops. Restaurants in the mall
include Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang's China Bistro. Barnes
& Noble also built a new book store in the mall and moved
there from its previous location across Wolf Road.
The mall has two floors, 120 stores and
1.25 million square feet of space. It is located just off Exit
2E from I-87 North.
Colonie Center opened in 1966. Annual reported
sales for all stores in the mall is $200 million.
Feldman Mall Properties, a real estate
investment trust specializing in shopping malls, purchased Colonie
Center in February, 2005 for $82.2 million. The company plans
to remodel the exterior and interior of the mall adding new floors,
flat-panel screens and sofas.
A Regal Cinema is planned for construction
in the summer of 2008 with 14 screens on a new third level of
the mall.
