History
Launched in 1987 by an enthusiastic young
researcher, Dr. Frank Baldino, Jr., Cephalon's growth has led
to discoveries and new therapies for sleep disorders, neurological
diseases, cancer, pain management and addiction. The company's
early focus on neurodegenerative disease led to breakthroughs
in understanding the chemistry of what causes cells to die, insights
that are now being applied to treating cancer as well as diseases
of the central nervous system.
The company went public in 1994.
