Brink's has 12,000 employees in the U.S. History The company first started in 1859 when Perry Brink founded a cartage business in Chicago. In 1838, the Pennsylvania Coal Company was founded in Pittston, PA. The Pittston Company was formed in 1930 and bought by Brink's in 1956. Pittston would be involved in coal and gold mining. Brink's Home Security was started in 1983. In 2002, Pittston exited the coal business and other mining businesses by 2004. On May 5, 2003, the Pittston company became Brink's Company.
