History
The firm was founded in Chicago in 1949
by Russell Baker and John McKenzie with four lawyers and a secretary.
First-year fees totaled $75,000.
The firm would begin expanding in Venezuela
and other countries in the 1950s.
By 1987, Baker & McKenzie would become
the first law firm to employ 1,000 lawyers. It double that number
in a decade and triple it by 2001. It was also the first law
firm to reach $1 billion in global revenue.
