It also had 128 stores in Mexico. Each store carries an extensive line for cars, sport utility vehicles, vans and light trucks, including new and remanufactured hard parts, maintenance items and accessories. Many stores also have a commercial sales program that provides commercial credit and prompt delivery of parts and other products to local, regional and national repair garages, dealers, and service stations. AutoZone also sells the ALLDATA brand diagnostic and repair software. In fiscal 2007, AutoZone reported sales of $6.1 billion and net income of $595.6 million. The company will open over 100 stores this year. History On July 4, 1979, the very first Auto Shack opened in Forrest City, AR. Doc Crain was the first store manager. The store was committed to quality control of its parts and products to customers. The company changed its name from Auto Shack to AutoZone in 1987 and went public on the NYSE in 1991.
