History

The firm was originally founded in 1926 as a branch of McKinsey and Company, which was then the only management consulting firm for top level executives in the nation. Andrew Thomas Kearney joined as a partner in the firm in 1929 and operated its Chicago office after the firm brokeup in 1939. The Chicago office became A.T. Kearney in 1946.

In 1995, the firm merged with EDS, a leader in global technology services. In 2006, A.T. Kearney once again became an independent, privately owned management consultancy, with 100 percent of the equity owned by officers in the firm.
