Albany Medical Center is a leading hospital serving the Capital Region of New York. It is the only academic health sciences center in the 25 counties of eastern New York and western New England.
The Center incorporates the 651-bed Albany Medical Center Hospital, one of New York's largest teaching hospitals and Albany Medical College, one of the nation's first private medical schools. It also includes a biomedical research enterprise, and the region s largest physicians practice with 350 doctors.

Albany Medical College was first founded in 1839 and is one of the oldest medical schools in the nation. Albany Hospital was founded in 1849.
