More than 90% of creative professionals use Adobe Photoshop.

In 2013, the company stopped selling boxed software for purchase via CD and now offers subscription software only via the Creative Cloud program which starts at $49.99 per month per user. Individuals can download single apps via subscription starting at $9.99 per month.

At the end of the fiscal third quarter 2014, the company said it had 2,810,000 Creative Cloud subscribers.

In fiscal 2013, Adobe reported revenues of $4.05 billion and net income of $289.9 million. Half of the company's revenues are generated outside of the U.S.

History

Adobe was founded in December 1982 by Charles Geschke and John Warnock. The founders named the company Adobe from Adobe Creek which ran behind Warnock's home in Los Altos, CA. The company was incorporated in 1983 in California and went public on August 20, 1986.

Prescription drugs
Covered through each medical plan. The Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans provide for a 3-tier copayment structure of $5 / $20 / $35 depending on the type of prescription. Kaiser participants pay $10 for each prescription. Mail Order programs are available under all plans.
Vision
Vision Service Plan: $10 co-payment, exam, and lenses covered every 12 months, frames covered every 24 months. Contact lenses covered every 12 months in lieu of lenses and frames. Choice of preferred/non-preferred providers.
Life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance
Available in 50K increments up to 10 times annual base pay; 1 million dollar maximum; $25,000 minimum.

Holidays and time off
Personal time off (PTO)
PTO is available for vacation, sick leave, personal business and floating holidays. Employees accrue PTO at 16 hours (2 days) per month for the first five years of service.
Sabbatical
A sabbatical is 3-weeks of paid time off, in addition to PTO, that may be granted to an employee after 5 years of continuous regular employment.
Holidays
In the U.S., Adobe observes eight paid holidays per calendar year, in addition to PTO.
Holiday shutdown
Adobe typically closes its North America offices between the Christmas and New Year's holidays. During this shutdown, employees are required to use PTO or borrow against future PTO for the days that are not paid holidays.

Educational assistance program
For U.S. employees, Adobe reimburses 100 percent of the cost of fees, tuition, and books for eligible business related courses and certificate programs up to a maximum of $10,000 per year with manager's approval. Adobe also provides 100 percent reimbursement for on-site technical courses through Stanford Instructional Television Network, where available.
Adoption assistance program
For U.S. employees, Adobe reimburses $5,000 toward eligible adoption expenses upon finalization of the adoption; $2,000 for the adoption of a stepchild.
Matching gift program (Worldwide)
Adobe matches employee contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations up to a maximum of $2,500 per calendar year.

Adobe Profit Sharing Plan
Eligible employees are awarded up to a 10 percent profit sharing bonus paid quarterly, based on Adobe's financial performance.
Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
Employees outside of Brazil, Russia, and China may contribute up to 25 percent of their eligible compensation to purchase Adobe stock. Enroll during semi-annual open enrollment periods (June and December), and make changes to deferral percentages at any time. Lock in a favorable stock price for up to a 24-month period. Stock is purchased every six months at a price that is at least 15 percent below market value.
Adobe Stock Option Plan
All new employees are given a stock option grant, which offers them the option to purchase Adobe stock at a set price. Employees may exercise option shares upon vest in a variety of ways, one of which being to sell their shares without having to use cash for the initial purchase.
Adobe Bonus Programs
Adobe employees may be eligible for bonus plans in addition to their base pay. These include Sales Compensation Plans, Team Bonus Plans for shipping quality products on time, and the Annual and Quarterly Incentive Plans for management positions. Special Recognition awards are given to recognize above and beyond contributions and results.
Adobe 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan
U.S. employees may contribute up to 65 percent of their tax-deferred compensation to Adobe's 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan (subject to IRS annual limits). Adobe matches 50 percent of the first 6 percent of employee contributions. The Plan offers auto enrollment, online account access and the ability to make changes on a daily basis. Employees may choose from a diversified lineup of 14 core investment options, 11 date-specific Target Retirement Funds and/or The Vanguard Brokerage Option. Investment advice and retirement seminars are offered to assist employees with investment decisions. Rollovers are accepted from previous employer qualified plans.
Adobe Deferred Compensation Plan
Adobe's Deferred Compensation Plan (DCP) supplements the Adobe 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan by providing an additional opportunity to tax defer a portion of income. U.S. Director-level positions and above (and equivalent) are eligible to participate in this program. Eligible employees may defer compensation from base salary, commission pay, quarterly profit sharing and the annual incentive plan bonus.
529 College Savings Plan
U.S. employees may set aside money with tax-free growth for qualified educational costs. There are six funds to choose from including age based as well as aggressive growth and balanced portfolios. There are daily enrollment and changes with no waiting period and convenient direct deposits into chosen beneficiary's account.
